Why a Wiki?

This wiki is designed to provide maximum flexibility to all my students. When you begin lessons with me we establish a regular meeting time--a general rule about when we'll meet for a (usually) weekly hour-long lesson. But I actually charge by the month, not by the hour or by the lesson. Our contract guarantees you a minimum of one hour per teaching-week of access to me throughout that month, though you may end up getting more or less time, depending on you.

According to our agreement, I have "penciled" you in at the normal lesson time for each week. If you need to cancel a lesson or change the time of a lesson, you may do so here on this wiki--that's what it's for. (For detailed directions about how to edit this wiki, click here.)

I will also post any pertinent information that you need to know. If you ever have any doubt about when a lesson is scheduled, or whether I'm teaching on any given day, or whatever, you can check this out. I recommend checking this page a day or two prior to your lesson each week, just to be sure you know the latest!

To Change Your Lesson Time, Or Cancel

Within the block of time I am teaching on any given day, I am available to teach whomever appears. Normally, you should come at our regularly scheduled time; but under special circumstances you can come at any of the open times not already scheduled. TO ASSURE THAT I CAN SEE YOU, YOU MUST MAKE ANY CHANGES IN YOUR LESSON TIME PRIOR TO THE DAY OF YOUR LESSON. Please don't call me on the phone, or email me. Simply make the change directly on this wiki. (With late cancellations on the day of the lesson, however, an email is appreciated at cellotacoma (at) riseup(dot)net.)

Since I may not have access to the web on the day of the lesson, and surely not once I've begun teaching, I cannot honor changes made to the wiki on the day of the lesson. I will check the wiki first thing that day and expect students to follow the schedule I find there. I may leave before the block is over, or arrive after it has begun if no students are signed up at those times. There is no guarantee I will be available throughout the whole block if students are not scheduled in advance.

As long as you do so in advance, you may change your lesson to any available time within my teaching block. If another student is not signed up, the time is open. You can change your lesson time from an hour to less, or more (if a slot is available). You can come for an hour during one slot, and then come back for more at an open time later in the afternoon, or whatever your heart desires. You can cancel your lesson altogether.

To be clear: payment of your monthly fee guarantees you a minimum of one hour of access per teaching-week during that month. If you cancel or reduce your usual lesson time, or if you increase your lesson time, this has no bearing on your monthly fee, and is entirely up to you. (Some months have five teaching-weeks; some have three, because of holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is an annual average of four teaching-weeks per month.) If I cancel a lesson or a teaching-week, I will owe each affected student one make-up hour.
